How to Send Money on Openfloat

Openfloat makes sending money a seamless process, whether you’re paying employees, suppliers, or business partners. With this comprehensive guide, you’ll discover how to initiate, upload, and manage payments efficiently using Openfloat. 

Sending money on Openfloat 

The first step is to log in to your Openfloat account. Once done, select the send money option on menu to access the payment options available.  

The categories available under the send money include 
 

  • Initiate payment 

  • Upload payments 

  • To saved accounts 

  • View payment categories 

  • Scheduled payments 

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to send money using the above-mentioned options. 

Initiate Payment 

  • Open the Openfloat app or web platform and log in to your account. 

  • Navigate to ‘Send Money’ option 

  • Choose the ‘Initiate Payment’ option. 

  • Here you can choose to initiate a payment to M-Pesa (Phone number, till, paybill) and Bank 

  • Fill in the details by keying in the recipient's name, phone number, amount and remarks and click on the continue tab 

  • A Pop-up window will be displayed to help you confirm the details of the recipient 

  • Click on initiate tab once you have confirmed that the details are ok. 

 

Upload payments 

You can also send money using the upload payments option on Openfloat using the following steps; 

  • Open the Openfloat app or web platform and log in to your account. 

  • Navigate to ‘Send Money’ option 

  • Choose the ‘Upload Payments’ option. 

  • Prepare your payment file 

  • Create a CSV or excel file with the payment details, including account type, numbers, amounts, and remarks. 

  • You can download a sample of template on the upload payment section for guidance 

  • Once done, click ‘Upload File,’ select your prepared file, and ensure the data matches the template provided by Openfloat. 

  • Verify the uploaded details and submit the payments for processing. You can track the status on your Openfloat dashboard. 

To Saved Accounts 

When it comes to sending money using the saved accounts option, Openfloat allows you to send money to accounts which you have saved on your  

  • In the ‘send money’ section, choose ‘To Saved Accounts’ option. 

  • You can send money to previously saved accounts or create a new one completely by filling in the account type, payment group, account details and on the manage saved accounts option on the Openfloat menu. 

  • Select the account to send money to from the pre saved accounts 

  • Input the amount to send and add remarks 

  • Click on the initiate payment option 

  • Verify the details and submit the payments for processing. You can track the status of the initiated payment on your Openfloat dashboard. 

You can also send money to your pre-saved payment categories on Openfloat. This function is particularly important as it allows you to group pay-outs based on major categories. You can have categories such as vendors, suppliers etc and make payments easily. 

 

Scheduled payments 

  • In the ‘Send Payments’ section, choose ‘Scheduled Payments.’ 

  • Select on the create schedule payment option.  

  • You can schedule payments from previously saved accounts or create a new one completely by filling in the account type, payment group, account details on the create scheduled payment tab. 

  • Once you have selected an account to pay to, add the amount and the remarks then initiate payment using the initiate payment tab. 

  • Verify the details and submit the payments for processing.  

  • You can track the status of the scheduled payment on your Openfloat dashboard.
